It is mandated among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to have a community extension activity which are generally termed as “social responsibility” to help improve the lives of people. This is an undertaking that aims to empower the residents of a particular group socially and economically. Accordingly, this study assessed the impact of community extension project and activities of PUP Lopez dubbed as “Kumikitang Mamamayan Para Sa Kaunlaran ng Bayan.” Both quantitative and qualitative method were utilized since the survey instrument was used to determine the short-term impact of the project particularly on knowledge acquisition, skills, and attitude among one hundred eighty-two (182) participants. Likewise, unstructured interview was conducted from six conveniently
chosen household beneficiaries. Findings revealed that project implemented creates positive impact on the lives of people in terms of acquired knowledge, developed skills and attitude building. Also, results showed that there was a remarkable impact on the percentage change of income after the intervention. Additionally, in the interview conducted, it was revealed that same impact was obtained as to knowledge, skills, and attitude. However, number of activities attended by the beneficiaries on the duration of project implementation creates no significant relationship to the extension project. Certainly, another community must be served since beneficiaries had changed and empowered.
