Abstract

This article explores the subject of idiomatic expressions, a significant form of communication within society due to their widespread usage and frequent presence in everyday speech. These expressions have garnered considerable attention from researchers and authors across various disciplines, including literary studies, stylistics, translation, lexicography, and linguistics. They are recognized as one of the most important linguistic phenomena in all natural languages, distinguished by unique features that intersect with all aspects of linguistic study phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. In Algerian speech, idiomatic expressions are prevalent in greetings, receptions, and congratulations. This study aims to elucidate the characteristics, significance, and role of idiomatic expressions in communicative discourse.
