Abstract

The research analyzes how Robert Browning presents two conflicting views of women in his poetry while exploring the ongoing struggle between raising women to idol status and reducing them to things. Through his role as a notable Victorian poet Robert Browning expresses female characters by having male narrators speak which exposes intricate power relationships alongside gender stereotypes while revealing mental complexity
