50 years without Célestin Freinet, 500 years backwards for school practices

Abstract

This essay was written in tribute to Célestin Freinet. In this year of 2016, the school education mourns the golden anniversary of his passing. As legacy, he left his books, important followers of the Modern School Movement, but, mainly, he has left inspiration for teachers to think and rethink their practice and the contingencies of the profession. The purpose of this essay tribute is to share two important legacies of Célestin Freinet: his books and the inspiration for teaching.

    Pós-doutorado em Ciências Humanas e Sociais pela Universidade Federal do ABC. Doutor em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, Rio Claro. Líder do Núcleo de Estudos Transdisciplinares em Ensino, Ciência, Cultura e Ambiente (NuTECCA) e do Grupo de Pesquisas Formação de Professores para o Ensino básico, técnico, tecnológico e superior (FoPeTec). Editor da revista Hipótese e coeditor da Revista Internacional de Formação de Professores e da Revista Brasileira de Iniciação Científica. Professor do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de São Paulo (IFSP), câmpus de Itapetininga.
