Development of intercultural competences in teacher training in Andalucía

Abstract

In modern societies the teacher must acquire through training processes intercultural skills that enable them to develop their professional work effectively. This article describes a quantitative research conducted in Andalusia in order to identify intercultural skills acquired by teachers in primary education through the training process. Cognitive, technical and attitudinal: A questionnaire designed ad hoc aimed at teachers of primary education, in which the three dimensions of intercultural competence is used are studied. The main results indicate that, although from the lifelong learning processes promote further the skills and attitudes that intercultural skills; training in intercultural competence of teachers has deficiencies in some (cognitive, technical and attitudinal) dimensions.
